Biography
My interest in the visual arts began with childhood visits in the 1960s to the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. I’ve been a regular visitor to art galleries since. However, I didn’t start making my own artwork until 2011, whilst studying Art Theory at the College of Fine Arts (now UNSW) in Sydney.
Electives in ceramics, sculpture and weaving — alongside my first visit to the Venice Biennale in 2013 — broadened my understanding of contemporary art practices and prompted me to question what my own creative voice sounded like. On returning to the UK, I completed a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at West Dean College, and I’m currently studying for a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Art and Craft.
